You don’t have to have a government job to have a lavish home, but in the instances of the people mentioned here, it helps. Take an inside look at the homes of some of the most familiar faces in the recent year of our esteemed and maybe not so humble civil servants.
John Huntsman’s federal style townhouse was originally the home to “Top Chef” contenders during season seven.

Michele Bachmann bought this home for $760,000 in 2008 in West Lakeland Township, Minn.
The home was built in 2007 as part of a “Dream Homes” charity auction.
The house was originally listed at $1.75 million, but Bachmann purchased it for $760,000. The publicity materials for the house said it has “European flavor.”

Rick Perry rented this 5-bedroom home that was on the market for $1.85 million, while the Governor’s Mansion was being renovated.
This Austin home is in a gated community, sitting on three acres of land.
The front of the home has balconies very similar to those in the Governor’s Mansion. The home showed that appearances are very important to the Perrys, according to The NYT.
Ron Paul is currently trying to sell his Lake Jackson, Tex. home for $325,000.

The four bedroom house is where the Pauls raised their five children. The backyard definitely looks like that of a family, with a pool and plenty of activities.
Mitt Romney owns the most homes of all the candidates. This is his Lake Winnepesaukee home in New Hampshire.
Romney recently sold two homes, one in Belmont, Mass. and another in Park City, Utah.
He held on to this Lake Winnepesaukee home, though. All of Romney’s homes have one thing in common though: He doesn’t take many design risks.
